I've Recieved my Gliding Certificate and Solo Endorsement!

I soloed a glider for the first time a month ago, see post below, and yeah, there’s something pretty special about being up there on your own for the first time!

An now, I've officially got the certificate, and the solo endorsement! So when the weather gets a little better, I can hopefully expect to be flying solo on the regular, just got to make sure to keep up the skills and theory!

I Attended FSIMUK 2026

10th October 2026

I visited the first ever FSimUK event. The first flight simulation event in the UK on this scale for 7 years. Nothing has been like it since before the pandemic!

And it was fantastic! It was great to meet the wider flight simulation community, and come to celebrate our mutual love for virtual flying.

With new hardware, software, addons, motion platforms, and so much more, it was a really memorable event. 

Here's to many more successful years of celebrating flightsimming in the UK!

I JUST WENT SOLO!!!

This is one of, if not the most incredible day of my life so far: I flew a glider completely on my own for the first time at 15!!!

After 30 flights over a year and a half of learning, practising, messing things up, failing to find lift, trying again and slowly getting better, I finally got to take a glider up by myself.

And somehow, my “first solo” turned into an hour of local soaring!! 

A massive thank you to all the amazing instructors, tug pilots, ground crew, friends, family and everyone at the club who has supported me and helped me get here. I genuinely couldn't have done it without you all!

I'm so lucky to be part of such an incredible community, and I can't wait for many more flights, thermals, adventures and hopefully plenty more milestones!

Flightdeck Focus: One Year In

Today marks 1 year since properly starting Flightdeck Focus, with the mission to bridge flight simming and real-world flying.

Since then, Flightdeck Focus has grown into a 5,000+ avgeek community, and I cannot thank you all enough for supporting our journey. I’ll admit, it hasn’t always been a smooth journey.

So thank you for being here for the first year of Flightdeck Focus. Here’s to whatever comes next!!!

First Two Flights of 2026!

Starting off the year with my 9th and 10th flights! 

It had been a little while since I last flew, so I got to grips with the controls again, and did some light stalling exercises while trying to find what little lift I could in the open blue sky!

Looking forward to a productive year in aviation, hopefully beating the fantastic experiences of 2025!

Having started Flightdeck Focus to share my passion for aviation, the past few months of growth have been insane! Thank you to each and every one of you who watched a video, liked a post, commented, and especially if you hit the subscribe button!

Leading Edge Open Day Nov 2025

I had the privilege of visiting Leading Edge Open Day at their Oxford Campus!

A day full of insight, it enabled me to better understand the wealth of opportunities, education, and career paths available to me as a prospective commercial pilot.

It was amazing to meet so many of their current students, whose passion for aviation was evident from the start!

Flightdeck Focus Featured on Microsoft Flight Simulator's Official Development Update!

Following the success of The Essential ILS Approach Tutorial for Flight Sim Pilots, thanks to our brilliant community, Flightdeck Focus earnt recognition by being featured in an official Microsoft Flight Simulator Development Update.
